Consumer Study Shows Changing TV Behavior

Stockholm, Sweden, August 26, 2010--Ericsson's  ConsumerLab has released the results of a recent study called "Multi Screen Media Consumption 2010". Data was collected in China, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, the UK and US. The sample in the study is representative of more than 300 million consumers.

WiMAX makes its mark in the Arab World: 11 Arab countries host 26 commercially launched WiMAX operators

 Amman, Jordan, July 15, 2010—As of the  end of June 2010, 26 out of 55 operators licensed to offer WiMAX offered the service. WiMAX is commercially available in Algeria, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the UAE. Moreover, Yemen and Oman are slated to WiMAX services in the second half of 2010.

MRG Reports Global IPTV Service Revenues to Reach US$46 Billion by 2014

San Jose, CA, July 15,2010—The Multimedia Research Group, Inc. (MRG) announced that its updated report on global annual growth shows IPTV subscribers will reach 102 million in 2014, a 25% CAGR. Despite economic hardship in some countries, robust Broadband and IPTV investments have been driving growth as a means to meet and outperform Cable and Satellite competition. IPTV Operators are using Fiber in high-competition markets and advanced DSL such as channel bonding and VDSL2 in other (less competitive) markets. As a result, Telcos have been discreetly improving their IPTV bandwidth capacity to sub-markets that need upgrades without overspending in markets that don’t require immediate upgrading.

One in Four UK Homes will Have 3D TV by 2014

London, June  16,  2010--Several weeks after the launch of the first 3D TV in the UK, a new report from Kelkoo, the shopping comparison website, reveals that almost one in four households (23%) will own a 3D enabled television set by 2015. With prices predicted to fall by 60% from £1,720 today to just £786 over the next five years, it is estimated that the UK market will be worth an estimated £7.25bn by 2015 with 7.6 million consumers investing in the new technology. In addition, the hype surrounding this year's FIFA World Cup will also play a pivotal role, boosting HD TV sales by 5% or £118 million as consumers flock to upgrade their home entertainment systems. 

Euroconsult Projects Government Earth Observation Market to reach US $ 2,6 Billion in 2019

European IPTV Subs to Double by 2015

London, June 1, 2010-- The number of IPTV subscribers in Europe is set to increase by 92 per cent within the next five years from 15.4 million in 2009 to 29.6 million in 2015, boosted by widespread deployment of next-generation access networks, according to a report from research firm Analysys Mason.

Pay TV Revenues Will Grow 7% to US$ 312 Mil. in 2010

New York, NY, May 21, 2010--The Pay TV market growth slowed in 2009 due to the recession. However, 2010 is expected to be a better year as operators have been signing up new subscribers, and existing subscribers are migrating to premium channels and advanced services. "As a result of the positive market outlook for pay TV," says ABI Research practice director Jason Blackwell, "global pay TV revenue will net more than $312 billion for cable and telecom carriers in 2010."
