AVL Technologies

Celebrating its 20th year of business, AvL Technologies, Inc. specializes in the design, development and production of mobile satellite antenna and positioner systems. AvL's visionary approach to mobile satellite antennas and positioners has established the company as a global leader in innovation and reliability. The product line features a full range of lightweight, rapidly-deployable, self-contained antenna and positioner systems that enable efficient and cost-effective voice, video and data connectivity to be established quickly without the need for specialized training. AvL is also the largest producer of high-performance, Ka-band ready, solid carbon fiber antennas. With corporate headquarters in Asheville, North Carolina, and regional offices located in the UK and China, AvL is able to offer superior service and support to customers around the world.

AvL specializes in the design and manufacture of antennas for military applications, which are typically the most demanding of all satellite communications. Featuring Vehicle-Mount antennas as large as 3.8m and FlyAway antennas as large as 4.6m, no other manufacturer has fielded more military antennas than AvL. Based on our unique, robust designs with enhanced wind performance and rugged packaging, AvL leads the industry in the delivery of military systems that operate over commercial Ku-band as well as the next generation of military satellites, including Xtar (X-band) and the new Wideband Global Satellite (WGS) constellation (X- and Ka-band). Most of our military antennas offer upgradability to X- and Ka-band operation.

AvL antennas for SNG applications come in Vehicle-Mount, FlyAway and Fly&Drive configurations. These antennas range in size from 90cm to 2.4m and offer industry-leading positioner stiffness to enable high data rates using high power amplifiers (HPAs). Some Vehicle-Mount models can be mounted on vehicles as small as an SUV, and aerodynamic cowlings are offered for specific models. The case-based FlyAway and Fly&Drive models range in size from the only true carry-on Model 9066 to the highly-robust but compactly-packaged case-based systems up to 2.4m. All AvL antennas for SNG applications are Ka-band ready.

AvL’s Ka-Band Broadband Antenna Family offers high reliability, cost-effective solutions for mobile broadband Internet access with new HTS satellites.  These antennas feature the AvL Zero Backlash Cable Drive and an auto-acquisition controller, are available with 85cm, 1.0m and 1.2m reflectors, and come in Vehicle-Mount, FlyAway (case-based or tripod) or Fly&Drive configurations. Antennas in AvL’s Ka Broadband Antenna Family operate with Avanti (HYLAS), Eutelsat (Tooway), Hughes (HN and HX), and ViaSat (Exede) networks.

Ranging in size from 85cm to 1.8m, AvL’s compact and rapid deploy Mobile VSAT antennas enable operators to quickly establish voice, video, and data connectivity without the need for complex configurations on the ground. These innovative mobile VSAT antennas offer the highest performance from the lightest, lowest stow height and smallest footprint profiles available, and come in Vehicle-Mount, FlyAway and Fly&Drive configurations.

AvL’s newest product line features Manual FlyAway antennas ranging in size from 60cm to 2.4m. All antennas in this family are lightweight, compact, portable, and robust with carbon fiber reflectors. Packed in rugged, lightweight cases, all AvL Manual FlyAway antennas are air freightable, and the smaller antennas can be carried onto commercial flights or checked as air baggage.
